The garden was started in 2007 along with the Healthy lunch program. The students at Dr. Arthur Hines School would plant the garden in the spring and with the help of summer students, teachers, students and their parents, there will be a beautiful vibrant garden for the students to enjoy as taste testing or in the meals prepared for the healthy lunch program
The Healthy Lunch program at Dr. Arthur Hines School has changed to a pay as you can approach and is fully funded and run by the Province of Nova Scotia. Each lunch will cost $6.50, parents can decide to pay the full amount, partial amount or nothing at all. Parents are required to order and pay online. We will receive a list of those who have ordered every two weeks, we will have no idea how much was paid for each lunch.
